Ammonia waste water emission in a catalyst recycling plant

Past Projects

A publicly traded catalyst recycling facility struggled to control high ammonia concentrations (>15,000 ppm) in its wastewater, resulting in plant shutdown lasting over a year. A previous vendor installed a crystallizer system, but it failed to provide any improvement.

By integrating a combination of scrubbers, strippers, and heat and condenser exchangers, we removed ammonia from wastewater to produce a high-concentration ammonium chloride (NH₄Cl) solution, which was then crystallized for reuse. This reduced ammonia salt discharge to regulatory standards and allowed the plant to resume production.
